A Boy and A Bean

At first there was a boy. Then there was a bean. Then everything got a little blurry.

Enter a world where giants dwell in suburban houses, beanstalks take root in corrupted soil and a boy called Jack strays between love, legislation and folklore.

Jack likes David. David likes Jack. The story seems simple enough. Add to this a public debate about how they like, why they like and what they like; Jack and David become confused quickly.

In this new devised work, Nick Atkins, walks head first into the Marriage Equality debate raging in current media and the controversial history surrounding the proposed legislation. Atkins follows the journey of Jack in search of the giants that have dominated the conversation and presents an open, visceral, off-beat and tender contemporary reframing of the issue. There is no better way to round out your Mardi Gras Festival experience in 2014.*
